A REPORT ON THE STUDY VISIT OF KENYA BY THE DELEGATION FROM NORTH BENGAL TEA PRODUCERS WELFARE ASSOCIATION FROM 28TH JANUARY TO 5TH FEBRUARY 2024

As the secretary of the North Bengal Tea Producers Welfare Association, I am honoured to present the study visit report and to share the objectives, challenges, opportunities, and collaborative prospects identified during our study trip to the Kenyan tea industry from 28th January to 5th February, 2024. The delegation comprised of 13 officials. The Tea Board of India was at hand to provide the initial administrative support to pave way for the visit. The primary objective of our visit to Kenya was to comprehensively study the tea industry in Kenya in order to understand the challenges and opportunities it faces. We aimed to explore potential areas of collaboration between the Kenyan tea industry and our association. Through extensive discussions and site visits, we gathered valuable insights that will benefit the tea industry in both regions.

In the face of industry hardships, our office bearers have shown proactive leadership by personally reaching out to Mr. Piyush Goyal, the Commerce Minister. This direct engagement demonstrates their commitment to finding solutions and seeking government support during challenging times. The initiative underscores their dedication to addressing industry issues head-on and emphasizes the significance of direct communication with key stakeholders for effective problem-solving.

Bonus Settlement meeting for 2022-23 with the Trade Unions held on 11.10.2023

On October 11, 2023, NBTPWA Associates convened a crucial Bonus Settlement meeting with Trade Unions for the fiscal year 2022-23. This gathering marked a pivotal collaboration between NBTPWA Associates and labor representatives to negotiate and finalize bonus structures for employees. The meeting aimed at addressing labor concerns, fostering cooperation, and ensuring a fair distribution of bonuses. The significance of the date, 11.10.2023, underscores the strategic importance of this dialogue in shaping financial outcomes and maintaining positive employee relations. This meeting facilitated the alignment of NBTPWA Associates’ prosperity with the well-being of its workforce through constructive negotiations and agreements.
